A view memory from my cabin window...

I painted it after having worked one year as a young oiler aboard a tanker ship sailing between the Persian Gulf and Europe. Days in the engine room or aboard without seeing much. 2 weeks sailing from the Gulf to Cap of Good Hope. 2 weeks further to a port in Europe. Unload the cargo and back to load more oil. Days not seeing another vessel. When I then got sight of another vessel, as on the painting, from my cabin window, it was a sign that we were about to pass Cap of Good hope, about to reach a destination harbour or we were about to enter the narrow Strait of Hormuz. The painting has been on the wall at Oven ( Summerhouse) for some years. It`s time to modernize a bit and I have been asked to take it down. Have to place it on the loft I think. Don`t willing to throw it away.
