Morocco
WOW! Morocco bombards the senses the minute you touch land - the smell of spices is in the air everywhere, the heat, dust, sounds - it's like nowhere else I have ever been; it feels really different to Europe.
We headed to Souk Al Had in the port town of Agadir. This is the place I have been so looking forward to and it certainly didn't disappoint, though culturally taking photographs is a bit of a minefield so I didn't tke as many as I would have liked.
Men rule the roost here, though I have to say I kept covered up and felt entirely comfortable and wasn't intimidated at all. The Souk was extraordinary, enormous and selling everything from onions to mobile phones. It is expected that you haggle, despite it being not part of our culture at all. B gave it a go and bagged us a tagine and some Ras al Hanout which is difficult to get hold of in the UK and smells amazing.
I ate a wonderful fish tagine overlooking the sea and practised my French on the waiter. B has been to Morocco before - we are already planning a longer trip to Fez or Marrakech.
