Morning Walk

I was up and off through St Ives this morning to the train station and in to Leeds.  First stop the running shop for new INOVs (woo hoo) and a fluorescent vest to keep me safe in the dark.  Then I called in at Waterstones to see if they had a book I heard reviewed on the radio over breakfast.  It is a book of letters sent to Barack Obama over his eight years of Presidency.  Apparently, his Presidential Post Office received about 10 000 letters each day and ten letters were selected each day to represent the feelings of the people on that day.  Obama would read them when he returned to the West Wing and often reply to them.  The letters chosen were not all supportive, some of them were hateful, critical, imploring.  Presidents over the years have dealt with their correspondence in different ways and this is also described in the book, along with samples of the letters and Obama's replies.  Nixon didn't want to read anything critical towards the end of his Presidency, I wonder why?  Some Presidents only read the replies sent from their Offices.  One has to wonder if Trump reads anything critical.......  It's making for fascinating reading, 'To Obama, with love, joy, hate and despair,' is written by Jeanne Marie Laskas.

A coffee and swedish meatball wrap in Pret a Manger and I was back on the train/bus home.  Tony and I took a turn around the Mansion and Pond in Bingley St Ives, further than he has walked before so small steps of progress each day.

My blip is taken on the bottom path en route to Bingley this morning with the sun coming slantwise through the autumn colours.
