Kendal beacon

Kendal castle is perched up high overlooking the town with 360 degree views of the Lake District fells.

Next to the motte and bailey I spotted this beacon...

It was erected and lit to commemorate the opening of The Single European Market on 31st December 1992.

How topical is that!
