Not quite parade standard!
Went out this evening to Cheltenham to see the live streaming performance of "They shall not grow old" by director Peter Jackson. Went on the bike and as it was dry I didn't want to go to such a film with dirty boots!
It was nothing short of incredible, what sort of technology he used to turn old WW1 film footage into amazing 3D colour film I do not know but the results were amazing.
They even used lip reading experts to find out what people in the old films were saying and dubbed it into the film.
All the way through there was commentary from soldiers, and airmen, about their experiences of joining up, training, transport to France, the front, trench warfare, fighting with artillery shells exploding all around them, machine gun fire, death of humans and animals everywhere - Absolutely first hand experiences which were incredibly enlightening even with all of the WW1 battlefield trips we've done.
It's a masterpiece not to be missed if you get the chance although it was a one off national broadcast as far as I am aware.
there wasn't a sound in the cinema, not a single sweet wrapper!
