Knitting
a big day today, i had to give a presentation in front of my peers on the Ma course. I left the house at 745, it was icy, so it took longer to walk to the bus than usual, i missed the bus.
but that was ok, I had left plenty of time to catch the train. next bus sat at a stop to change drivers, i missed the early train.
But that was ok, the next one would still get me there in time. I had a caramel coffee. I had to change trains at Leeds, 10 minutes to make the change, plenty of time. The train sat outside leeds station for 6 minutes. I missed the connection.
But that was ok, the next one was a slower train but still gave me time to get from the station in Starbeck to the college. i was going to walk, but since I had arrived so late, I thought I would get a taxi for the mile to the college. Starbeck doesn't have a taxi rank, I asked in a lovely cafe, they said 'Henshaws? don't get a taxi, catch the bus, it goes right outside, all the busses go right past henshaws' so I caught a bus. I got off at Henshaw's...... garden centre, not the college. a mile and half away.
but that was ok, i can walk that, in temper, quite quickly!!!
listened to several presentations on assesments, all very informative.
had a tour of the facilities, had lunch,
more presentations, more good stuff. My turn, felt rushed, the rain was settling in, it was going dark, people were muttering about going home. The person before me had talked about exactly the same test, so spent some time saying 'as previously discussed', no questions at the end of my talk.... people ran for the door.
Got a good feedback score for my talk from my tutor :)
Got a lift to the station :)
chatted with 2 colleagues all the way 'till weeton, when the train broke down. I was really past caring.
I did eventually get home, quiche and potato salad for tea.
in the middle of all that, DD forgot I was away all day, didn't think she had to walk the dog, I asked a friend to do it, she dropped the spare key in the shed, down behind some bags of compost. texted another friend, who has a key to ask if she would run round and open the door, first friend who has her leg in bandage from hip to ankle, had scrabbled around, and eventually got the key back. texted second friend to call off mercy dash.
Last night, DD went out saying 'I'll catch the 11.30 bus home' I think she must have had the same kind of travel difficulties as I had today, because she didn't get in until 4am.
knitting?
Man: Are all these women going to the christmas market?
train conductor: No, a knitting convention,
Man: Humph, we've all worn a jumper that's too big for us, h haven't we?
