Woodwick

A bit of a wild and windy day, but Shelagh and I managed to fit in a lot of sight seeing.  We had a long relaxed breakfast and a walk with the dogs then set off for Evie, to Woodwick House, where there is a super walk through woodland, alongside past just about Orkney's only river and waterfalls, down to the sea.  Also had a look inside the 17th C dovecot, a wonderful building whose interior is dripping with ivy.

Lunch in Dounby then onto the Woolshed to admire lots of felting and weaving, as well as beautiful wools.  On the way home we drove up to the top of Wideford Hill and watched the sun setting over the hills of Hoy.

Lamb tagine for dinner - thanks to Veronica for the idea - and it was a great success!

Mike spent the day battling with an electrical problem which had resulted in a thawed and putrid chest deep freezer.  Being the man he is, by the time we got home he had also emptied and cleaned that out and everything was smelling a lot more pleasant!  Thankfully it is not ours, but in the house Shelagh is staying in.  Poor chap, his day was not as enjoyable as ours!
