La Varde Dolmen

My blip today is of another of Guernsey's Megalithic monuments - la Varde Dolmen. Located at L'Ancresse, this is the largest surviving Megalithic structure in the island - over 10m long. It is estimated that it was built betwen 4000 to 2500BC and was in use until 1000BC. It was rediscovered in 1811 by soldiers and when it was excavated numerous bones, tools and earthenware items were recovered.
I took a similar blip of Le Dehus dolmen several months ago.
