Belem

We decided to visit Belem today seeing the main tourist sights. We traveled by tram -great fun, getting to the main attraction the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos with its highly decorative cloister and attractive church - see main blip. Then it was the tower (Torre de Belem) followed by a peak at the limestone sculpture at the edge of the river, see extra while heading to the Contemporary Art Museum. After all that we were hungry we passed the patisserie that’s famous for its Belem Custard Tartes but the queue was too long both before and after our lunch. Oh well another time, we will have to make do with the other ones on sale everywhere, which are very nice anyway. Then it was a trip upto a botanical garden and a different tram back. A full on day but very enjoyable.
