Birmingham

We're at a conference tomorrow and need to be in Birmingham first thing, so we drove down this afternoon. The journey south was fine and our hotel - a Wetherspoons, my second in a matter of days - was good, too. We dumped our bags , freshened up and headed out to meet our friend Vince who'd come over from Cork for drinks and dinner. 

I took this shot by the tram station. It reminded me a bit of 'Blade Runner', although it occurred to me that the problem with any science fiction that was made pre-smartphone is that it seems like it's from an alternate future where Steve Jobs never existed. Maybe that's why they refer to it as dystopian :-)
