Bikes!

Ruth, the writer I met in my course a few weeks ago, arrived in Oxford to stay overnight. It took me 8 minutes to cycle to the station to meet her, and about as long again to find somewhere to lock up the bike.

We’ve been discussing the plot of her latest novel and a character who was in the army in the mid-1990s and had a traumatic experience. To help her with the backstory I drew on my experience in the Balkans to give Ruth some suggestions about specific massacres - let’s see if they make it into the final cut
