Northern Exposure

The great escape.

Spent the afternoon with one of my favourite clients. Seeking inspiration for a big job we work on for the next 4 or 5 months we decided that we should get out and about away from phones etc. Plan was to take a picnic lunch and find an inspirational place to crack the problem. However we managed to pick a really wet and dreary day and ended up sitting at the cliffs of Yesnaby staring out through the driving rain at a wall of mist. Eating our cheese rolls whilst thinking no thoughts at all.

I had thought I would get a great pic of Yesnaby which is normally a spectacular place in even the worst weather. But we didn't even get out of the car as it was so dreich. I'll go back another day for a blip effort.

We decided that we would head for the Stromness Museum, which was more fun. A real gem of a museum, very old fashioned but great. Jam packed with exhibits from all over the world brought back by Orcadian sailors. A whole floor of scary stuffed animals (kids love it) and masses of local interest stuff - pirates, shipwrecks, school photos, arctic explorers etc. etc. Took loads of pics inside but none caught my eye as much as this pretty green boat outside the door.

The day was rounded off by coffee and scones (with jam) at a great cafe and then a chance encounter led to a sneak preview of something that I can't say anything about. But I hope be back to blip it as soon as it is open.

All in all it was a pretty inspirational day really, the real work starts on Thursday...!
