A Good Innings
I was delighted this morning to see Big Daddy muntjac in disused glasshouse thirteen for the first time in a while.
I went to John Lewis Welwyn Garden City and bought myself a pair of boots, making a flying visit to the Tewinbury hide on the way home. When I opened the flaps there wasn't a single bird to be seen. The water is low as The Wildlife Trust is hoping to attract waders to the nutrient-rich mud.
I always think positive, had only been there for ten minutes and was visualising a kingfisher on a bendy twig when one flashed into view and landed not too far away. What a thrill. :)
As I was leaving I met a lovely, knowledgeable Wildlife Trusts guy who is the main man at the Herts Bird Club. He asked if I'd ever been to Stanstead Innings. I've been once and after lunch I took Ollie dog for a walk there in lovely light and warm sunshine. Why do swans adopt that position with one foot in the air? :)
