The last time...

...she stood amongst the avenue of trees, the sun was shining and leaves covered the skeletal branches.

They had walked across the crushed seashells several times over those last few days, each time growing closer and closer. It was new to them both in many ways. Yet they couldn't help falling for each other. Nothing was said though. The goodbye wrapped in each others arms was almost silent. As they walked away from each other, they looked back, but didn't walk back, didn't call out. They should have.

Walking past the place again she was reminded of that goodbye, that embrace, that moment when both realised how they truly felt yet didn't say. A warmth ran through her knowing that it did lead to wonderful things, a chill followed with the reminder of the distance between them. And the skeletal trees looked on.
