First race in my new club vest
Not only is it my first race in my new Lytham St Annes Road Runners vest, but it is also very likely to be my last with the moustache!
The Mo will go as soon as I can get rid of it on Friday. I'm sure we all wish it was as easy to get rid of cancer.
Overnight rain led to a lot of water on the course, including one section that was over a foot deep.
Some quick work with a tape measure between two of us meant we were able to divert the course while keeping the overall distance accurate.
I was asked to do the pre-race briefing and I always try to entertain as much as inform.
So today I advised there was water on the course and those wearing nice new white shoes or socks would regret it :)
I warned them to follow the marshals' instruction as some local objector had taken great delight in changing most of the arrows on the course! Not once, or twice, but 3 times!
I asked those who thought they might have a bad run to take into account they would not be as bad as the babies in the special care unit of Royal Preston Hospital. This resulted in amusement and applause!
For my own part I was hoping I could run somewhere around 25.5 to 26 minutes for the 5Km course so I am very pleased with my time of 24 minutes 7 seconds (on my watch, I'm waiting for the official result).
Sorry I've been hopeless at commenting on your blips recently. I'm going to do some catching up tonight.
Have a great week
