Deconstructing
As Sunday moved into Monday I was determined to reclaim as much of the dining room as possible.
An intricate array of string and supports had kept these chairs and other bits of furniture in a steady state.
But as the room cleared they had to come down.
Went to bed happy that the carpet had been rolled back; that the dining room table was back in the middle of the room; and you could see floor space.
The morning in the office was eerie. Other than those on leave or off, ir those away on business such as my depute Elliot in Poland on a uk delegation, all others were away. They were having a joint business and ops team meeting in our potential new premises. Whether as a result of last week’s power cut, the phones did not ring. Several people also got locked out of the building as the electronic security system was still a bit temperamental.
The evening at home involved yet more dusting and polishing.
