Rivers Run
Back home after a lovely time away with my sister in Venice.
I enjoy travelling, visiting new places and revisiting more familar ones and always come back having learnt new things and with a different perspective on the familar.
One of the things that I liked most about Venice (after the canals and the alleys) was absence of cars, food chains (fast or otherwise) and large hotel chains. Instead there were neighbourhood restaurants and bars, boutique hotels, albeit combined with shops after shop after shop selling souvenirs.
Coming back always makes appreciate how lucky I am to live in Scotland, dividing my time between Edinburgh and Pitlochry, both of which attracts visitors from elsewhere and in both of which water plays a part. Today's blip is the Water of Leith as seen from the Calder Road on my walk home.
I was also minded of this great song by Karine Polwart.
