An unhappy looking accountant

After a busy day yesterday at the food bank (and a slightly spooky experience with a packet of rice cakes), I thought I would sit back and have a relax today - until the hairdresser rang to check why I hadn't turned up for my appointment! I completely got my dates wrong and forgot I had booked it mid week to make the most of not being in work! Fortunately, the woman after me had turned up an hour early so we managed to do a straight swap. I never forget anything - and am never late - so perhaps it's a way of telling me I need to have a quiet day to do nothing!

I was back at my usual sign language choir tonight but the door to the pub was locked when we got there. Very disappointing when we've only just secured it as a new performance space.

Usually we would just try and find another pub but we were hosting a cultural exchange visit with a Dutch university whose students are all studying sign language to be interpreter's for the police, hospitals and court. Very clever people!

Our choir master managed to beg/plead secure space in a hotel but they must have wondered what was happening when 30 people traipsed in and started signing Christmas songs! People were leaning out of the bedroom windows to film us though so it seemed to go down well :).

This statue (created by Thompson Dagnall) was in the lobby of the hotel and the plaque says it "commemorates the publication in 1494 by Luca Pacioli of his treatise, which introduced to the world the principles of double-entry book-keeping".

Quote for today:
Blessed are the forgetful: for they get the better even of their blunders.
- Friedrich Nietzsche
