Song of the day. In such a better frame of mind today as well...I really hope that it continues! Cheers to all those who waste spend their time talking to me about random stuff, you really do help.
This is the view of the campagne that I woke up to this morning. Gorgeous isn't it?! However, after spending a night in the country, I think I am definitely a city girl at heart. There just isn't that much to do! Very lazy, if early, morning spent at Kristie's house eating leftover turkey, soup, bread, chestnuts and pecan pie. Oh, and leftover Moët (living the French dream!). Was absolutely lovely to spend some time with such welcoming and friendly people...I really hope they didn't mind that my level of French worsened as the night went on. As I've said before, it really is like a switch...one minute you can understand everything and even join in then phut the next minute everything is gobbledygook.
After an afternoon of skyping I went into Caen to meet up with Claire, Becky, Laura, Thomas, Pawel and Shwetabh in Dolly's. I was slightly late as I had to watch Merlin and everyone was speaking in German! I wasn't even allowed to join the conversation until I had recited a sentence in German! No idea what I said, as my level of German is non-existent unfortunately...although after a few attempts I apparently pronounced it right. Probably correct that they gave me up as a hopeless case, and started speaking French! Dolly's is the only English themed establishment in Caen, so everyone took the opportunity to order some British food. I personally didn't need that much after the mega-brunch I had had so only had cream cheese with chutney on toast. Lovely. Oh, and a glass of wine...followed by a free one that the waiter gave me. No idea why, but I'm not complaining! Brilliantly chilled evening and home in time to watch a little television before bed...perfect.
