Jacky Jackdaw....

..... sadly this isn't Jacky who left this world many years ago but when I saw this newest garden visitor he reminded me of a character from my childhood. Jacky the Jackdaw had been injured as a youngster and the people who lived next door took  him in and nursed him back to health - at which point he decided that rather than fend for himself he'd stay put and earn his keep by playing the clown.  He was very intelligent and could do all sorts of little tricks, say a few words and generally be very amusing. He gained a bit of notoriety locally and as far as I know he lived to a good age.
