Vigour

I went to Rotary after work. We have changed the meeting format, and twice a month we meet for coffee at 5.30pm.

At the moment this suits me better than the breakfast meetings.

I was bemused by the children and strangers who were there. Turns out we were presenting donation cheques to two local charities, plus the District Governor was making his annual visit.

He is expected to visit each club in the district during his year in office. For our district, this means trips to Orkney, Shetland and Lewis, as well as 60 something mainland clubs.

At most clubs he'll be facing a dwindling group of white men aged between 70 and 80 (average age in the district is 73) some of whom will fall asleep as soon as he starts to speak. He adapted quite well to our young, mixed sex group, all of whom are wide awake. Being all white is new to us, but we'll manage meantime.
