a brown gull...

...really

was i seeing things... that couldn't be brown - clearly the sun was playing with my eyesight... it was too bright out -

but then as he flew through the air... landing gently on the water - i stared - stared some more... sure enough - i saw brown, people! brown - boo!

i didn't know gulls came in brown... when did that happen? up to this point - i've only seen white gulls at the lake i've been visiting... now today - here are brown ones - there were a gaggle of them, too - not just one or two or three - bunches of them... in fact, there were a whole lot of gulls circling the air frequencies this afternoon - many more than i've seen in quite some time... sending out their crying calls - trying to fetch food - then chasing one another... i was in absolute glory land for snapping so many photos - it was one of those days where you have an abundance... then can't decide which one you want to post - sigh...

i decided on the brown because it's such a rarity - for me at least - perhaps someone can fill me in on what i find such an oddity... i did manage to get a 2nd gull in flight with him - that gave me a bit of a thrill - seeing it in the background - which made for...
