Up North

Off up north to spend a little time with S in Sheffield.  Dropped in on Calke Abbey to break the journey.  An NT property that they make a point of only repairing it, not restoring it - drawing the distinction between not leaving it broken but not bringing it back to its original condition either.  

We didn't go in the main house due to limited time but the various garden buildings left in this state looked a lot more interesting than I think they would if restored.

Got to Sheffield a bit later than planned but enough time to find our Airbnb flat, walk in to meet S, and have a wander around the centre - something I'd thought I'd not done before but bits seemed familiar - probably from one of the Cheeseminor's University Open Day visits.

Had a pie - which I gather is a thing to do in Sheffield.
