First Poppy Laying
Falmouth conducts its own ceremony on the Friday before the British Legion’s street collection permit comes into force, that makes it today.
The ceremony is low key but poignant and is for the benefit of the town, relations of those who have lost someone to conflict, Veterans, Councillors and those who wish to remember.
I lay an ‘official’ Poppy Cross on behalf of the Royal Naval Association.
I also lay crosses for my father, both of my grandfathers, my mums uncle, killed in France in 1915, my brother-in-law, father-in-law, and Clare’s grandfather. All of them have military service and all are remembered.
A day of Remembrance
