Race day

Jett ran at the state cross country meet for mid-schoolers in Monmouth today. It's almost a two hour drive south, through open farmland. I captured this barn on the way home, from the car window. In the extra Jett is nearing the finish line, passing a competitor. She is a 6th grader, not in mid school yet, but they are allowed to train and run with the mid-schoolers. She placed in the middle of the pack, 136th out of 234. There were hundreds and hundreds of kids running in different categories from all around the state. The weather report had promised anything from heavy rain or hail to thunder storms, but during the meet it was mostly sunny, albeit windy.
