Jimmy Cliff
A new CD I ordered a few days arrived this morning. I'd not heard of Jimmy Cliff before - maybe I should have. But I bought this album on the strength of it being produced by the legend that is Tim Armstrong. Mrs Nicktor always has a listen to potential new purchases on spotify being spending any money, but I like the excitement of not being entirely sure what you're going to get. And every now and then you get something which totally blows your mind and is so much better than it should be.
And this is one of those albums. Jimmy Cliff and Tim Armstrong - such an unlikely combination, but this album is the work of genius. Most of the songs are written by the two of them, but there are a couple of brilliant covers thrown in, including the Clash song 'Guns of Brixton' and 'Ruby Soho' (which was written by Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederickson, and recorded on their 'Out Come the Wolves' album).
5 stars for the CD! I'm lovin' it :-)
