A vigil

More than 2,000 people showed up last night at the vigil for Pittsburgh.  The crowd went around the block and the audio from inside was broadcast for them to hear.  One of the local TV stations actually broadcast the whole hour-long event.

The governor, mayor, clergy from other religions, and the leaders of all the local Jewish agencies all spoke.  The head of the Jewish Federation, where a gunman killed one and wounded seven back in 2006, gave a moving talk.  The rabbis from the Seattle area congregations came up to the dais together and read out the names of the victims, while lighting candles for them.  There was music (you can see three of the performers in this photo) and, near the end, all the clergy of all religions who had attended were invited to come to the front of the room.  That is what you see in my blip.  The vigil ended with a song.

I had hoped to watch the live stream of the vigil at home, but there was no audio.  Fortunately, the live stream is available on the Temple De Hirsch Sinai website, from which I got this screen grab..

An addendum: the Comcast technician was just here and I think may have solved the cable problem for good.  It was something in the wiring in the wall.  Fingers crossed.
