the bird-window
I've started putting bird food on the window sill here so I can watch the birds while I use the computer (I don't work on this computer, I just make use of it, I have other, more boring, places for working). I love watching birds. When I was very little, when my eyes were still functioning perfectly, I used to watch the birds in our garden a lot and I loved putting food out for them by the dining room window and then sitting inside watching them. My mother knew which was which, I've never been all that good at it - I need birds with clear labels on them. the sudden occurrence of poor eyesight ruined my bird-watching and I didn't bother with them all that much until Littlest came along - she loves birds (and fishes) and so we started feeding them close to the house so she could watch them. Now I've tempted them so close that even I can enjoy them. Maybe they'll get tame enough to be blipped at some point, they are still a bit nervy now.
This week I will be flying south like a bird, escaping the forecast snow for a bit of Sevilla sunshine. This means that my mummy-week has been reduced to two days so I have a lot to do before I fly on Wednesday. I also have to finish organising the workshop we're running in Spain and, this morning, an Urgent Thing had to be unexpectedly dealt with too. The Urgent Thing required my unflappableness and systematic thinking to master it, which meant I lost a few hours in my time-plan. But it was in a worthwhile cause. I should be sky-high with stress right now but I gave that up long ago. Apart from a refusal to suffer fools gladly when under pressure, I usually deal with this kind of situation by just plodding from one thing to another and keeping my eye on the ball.
Oh, and I have to pack as well - that's the thing I always forget......
