Dundurn Parish Church, St. Fillans(by Loch Earn)

A dry but overcast day

We are on a two night 'away break' in the Loch Earn area. on our way, we stopped at St. Fillans and saw this beautiful little Parish Church. It is very well maintained, inside and out and was very peaceful to just sit in the pew. Some information we learned:

By the middle of the 19th century there was a desirability of establishing a separate parish by Loch Earn. It was not until 1895 that this was achieved, with the name Dundurn being given to it. The Parish Church is largely unchanged since it was built in 1878, although it was linked with the parish of Comrie and Strowan in 1979. The two parishes share the services of one minister. The church features a small, closed timber turret which contains a bell 12 inches in diameter with a date of 1879. Under the eves on the south side of the church hangs a small 11 inch bell, likely cast in around 1900.
