HALLOWEEN

First thing today was shopping in Morrisons.  Its a while since I've been as I have been on holiday and then my friend Jan was away on a cruise around the Canary Islands and Madeira..  She just got back on Monday.  It was good to get a big shop as I've just been shopping day by day and couldn't get heavy things.

After a late breakfast I was mulling over whether to go to Newcastle.  I had a voucher from John Lewis for a free cup of coffee and a slice of cake.  (the voucher expired today). The doorbell rang and it was my neighbour Susan who lives at number 11.  She had to go out but was expecting a parcel so she wondered if I could take it in when it came.  I told her about the John Lewis voucher but said I would stay in and wait for her parcel. She told me to wait a minute and she dashed home and came back with a cupcake for me in lieu of the John Lewis cake.  Wasn't that nice of her.  She said she would put a note on her door to let the Hermes courier know he had to deliver to me.

I ate the cake almost immediately - it was delicious ( you can see it in my collage ). Then I began carving the pumpkin I had bought in Morrisons.  I have never carved a pumpkin before - in my day ( and Becky and Neil's day ) it was turnips.  I didn't find it easy but I ploughed on and you can see my effort in the collage.  I put some LED tealights inside and put it on my front step ready for trick or treaters. Also in the collage are the sweeties I got ready for any children who called and also a bat decoration and a witches hat I bought in Morrisons ( they were reduced in price).  The hat was plain originally and I had fun sticking on all the spooky glittery decorations.

Sometime during the afternoon I got a text from Hermes to say they had delivered a parcel for me to my neighbour in Number 5.  The Hermes courier hadn't even knocked on my door - he had just gone straight to Number 5 with my parcel.  Why? Anyway I went to see Lizzie at number 5 and collected my parcel  Surprisingly she had also taken in Susan's parcel which the Hermes courier had given her. Why again?  I left Susan's parcel  there as it was too heavy for me to carry.  So when Susan came for her parcel I told her the saga of both our parcels being taken to No 5 even though I was at home.  We both just shook our heads in disbelief.

I had a few children calling for treats this evening - they were all in costume.  Lovely to see them.
