Open road

Just one of the local unsealed roads. The signs look good against the blue sky. Earlier today wind and rain would have buffeted me but it's glorious this afternoon.

Young Jasper-jam is asleep on my lap and my limbs are feeling tired from spin. It's time to move but I'll have to negotiate with the little furry one first.

A couple of days ago we felt the first quake in ages. At work it felt surprisingly strong as it was centred in the North Island and over 200km deep.

I wondered what it was like at home and if Jasper felt it. He's completely untroubled which is great.

Today's gratitude: For coffee with a colleague today who's had a really challenging year. Such courage and tenacity.
