Home again to an autumnal garden. (Back blip)

We arrived home late afternoon after a night flight followed by a drive from London Heathrow up the M40 to home.
The countryside looked so calm with rolling downland, freshly ploughed fields, and the kind of mistiness over the landscape which heralds the beginning of November.
I so enjoyed the colours of the trees along the way, and spotted Red-tailed Kites close to the M40 near High Wycombe. They have made their homes in that area, above the Chiltern Hills. As you drive through the gap between, you are always guaranteed the appearance of several of them wheeling round the sky on thermals.
They are very different from the Turkey Buzzards I was watching from Heidi's back porch when we were away.
They have a wingspan of 6 feet.
The garden still has lots of colour and some more roses had flowered again in our absence, with the exception of the nasturtiums who had succumbed to frost.
Still catching up from jet lag, but another night's sleep should sort it out.
I love autumn colours and sharp light. England is a beautiful country.
Dark tonight at 5.00 pm!
