Costa Rica - Day 1

Arrived at the hotel last night by 8 pm and joined my blip-comrades for a glass of wine before toddling off to bed.  We all lingered over breakfast this morning, catching up and chatting.  Then, a quick jaunt over to a nearby park for Hilly, Lois and I before rushing back to our hotel to meet out photo guide, William.  We shuttled over to a different hotel where we are staying for just one night before we head into the jungle.

We all spent several enjoyable hours back at the same park this afternoon where we saw quite an impressive list of birds as well as these utterly adorable Variegated Squirrels.  Quick sort through a bunch of photos, and selected this one just because it's cute.  There is something about the look of this squirrel's face that make me think it is a youngster. I could be wrong.  

And just in case anyone has been wondering where Elvis is, I think I found his avian cousin - see Extra.  Also a sweet shot of two young muscovy ducks.

Our 7th photographer, Maura, missed her flight so is going to be meeting us at the lodge tomorrow afternoon.  

Off to dinner now and then an early start tomorrow.  Can't wait to see what awaits us in the rain forest...
