Gadwall
It was the first properly sunny day for a while and I managed to pop down to the dam for a walk around lunch time. The visiting Gadwalls are the highlight at the moment, there are at least a couple of males, like this one, and may well be females but it's difficult to pick them out from the Mallards.
Just the one butterfly today, a Small Copper in the spot where I've been regularly seeing them over the past six weeks. Comfortably the latest of these that I've ever seen and as we get into autumn proper, I'm wondering if it will be my last butterfly of the year.
