Swinfen Hall

A lovely violin recital, a fundraiser for the Lichfield Festival Association, was held this afternoon in the Oak Ballroom of Swinfen Hall.

The violinist, Joo Yeon Sir, has been one of the featured young musicians in 2016 and had returned this year for a residency. She’s quite a virtuoso, not afraid to include Paganini Caprices in her programme.

Sunday lunch in the restaurant was very traditional and delicious. It’s a delightful way to spend a Sunday.

Swinfen Hall is now a hotel. It’s a Grade II listed building, dating from 1757.

Perhaps the most famous, and notorious, claim to fame concerns Patience Swinfen and a notorious claim against the will of Samuel Swinfen, which was highly contested between 1856 - 64. But that’s another story......
