Remembering.
My husband was up in the loft today, and he came down with a handful of programmes. Operas, plays and musicals we have seen over the years. There are a lot of them up there, but I thought these few were interesting.
The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This was the first opera I ever went to,Aida in 1962.
Out of the Blue, at Babbacombe Theatre, also in 1962. It was a holiday show, and the principal comedian was Roy Hood, who was moving so quickly towards stardom that soon he will make an astronaut seem leisurely, says the programme.
Alan Bennett's Forty Years On in 1968, with Tony Britton, Christopher Timothy, and Tony Robinson.
Habeas Corpus, also by Alan Bennett, in 1973, with John Bird, Phyllida Law, Madeline Smith, Joan Sanderson, and Andrew Sachs.
My Fair Lady, in1979, with Tony Britton, Liz Robertson, Peter Bayliss and Anna Neagle.
The King and I, in 1979, with Yul Brynner and Virginia McKenna, and Yul Brynner signed our programme.
And finally in 1989, Veterans Day, with Michael Gambon and Jack Lemmon.
What a lot of great memories.
