Hemi Demi Semi Quaver
I was at the tip today - a very exciting Sunday! We've had stuff at the side of the house for longer than we should, and add in the holly trees that were pruned, and I thought I should make a start on clearing it. I couldn't believe how busy it was! Obviously a popular job for a Sunday.
This barge was on the main road just a couple of minutes away from the tip and I clocked it as I drove past, and managed to stop once my car was empty. I really like how it appeared to be disappearing under a bridge.
I've finished another book today, my fourth this week, as I've been a bit lax and won't hit my target of a book every week of the year. Every time I read a book, I put a pound in a pot for the food bank. My husband is doing the same but he's donating a pound for every game of golf he plays - and he's at £106!
One book I recently finished was about kindness and I saw a lovely little paragraph which summed up how random acts of kindness can cause so many ripples:
One morning, just before Christmas in 2012, a Tim Hortons' coffee shop in Canada became famous for a chain of kindness that spontaneously occurred at its drive-through window. A customer paid for her order and also paid the bill for the stranger in the car behind. That customer then decided to do the same for the car behind them ... this continued for the next 226 customers, in a three-hour kindness spree. Kindness inspires kindness.
Tonight we had an extra choir practise with Hemi Demi Semi Quaver, a choir that actually sings! We're going to be signing around Manchester as they sing Christmas Carols. I think I will have a busy December!
Quote for today:
There is no such thing as "away". When we throw anything away it must go somewhere.
