Isolated

It must be a pretty lonely job driving a crane.  You are isolated from everyone else on site (although I assume these days he has radio communication and doesn't have to rely purely on hand signals as I imagine was once the case).  I'm not sure I'd fancy sitting up there all day.

At this stage the cab was empty:  there was no more need for the crane today.
