Now is all you have

The Old Potato storage.

When I was young this was the towns potato storage. The people in the town cultivated potatoes and during the winter the potatoes were stored in cold storage dug deep into the ground. This way the potatoes lasted the whole winter. We could only see one door back then and the storage was like a tunnel under the ground and on the top of it was children's playground and still is. You can see a small football field and a kindergarten equipment if you look closely.

A few years ago a young architect bought the storage and changed it to an office place where he works. The tunnel has been closed but you can see the old doors and part of the walls inside the office. The architecture office is called Kollgáta and their latest project Café Björk has been nominated to represent Iceland construction work to the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture 2013, the The Mies van der Rohe award.
