Rangoli

As part of Diwali celebrations, the entrance to a home may often be decorated with Rangoli.. Materials used can include flowers, coloured rice, pulses or coloured sand.
This one has been created on the floor of the Highcross near where i work.
I watched it being created the other day. The design was sketched out on the floor and then handfilled used coloured sand... It's beautifully intricate and unless you saw it being created you would think that it was a painting..
