Day 310/18. A Merlin and a Spitfire.

A Rolls Royce Merlin X engine sits beside the Supermarine Spitfire Mk24 at Southampton Sky Aircraft Museum.
But aficionados will know that the Merlin did not power the later Mk's of Spitfires. The Mk24 was powered by a Rolls Royce Griffon, a derivative from the Merlin.
I sometimes volunteer as a guide here. I know every inch of the place but continue to be fascinated by the exhibits.
