Reflecting on the Great War
Too many young lives lost. This is part of the Town Council's window display, to promote a current exhibition at the Museum.
The Trinity rooms, which belong to Trinity church in our area, were used as a war hospital. Nowadays they're used for line dancing, a pop up nursery, and occasionally as a polling station. I held my 40th birthday party there.
The colours and the striking simplicity of this display reminds me of the cover of 'Testament of Youth' by Vera Brittain. I read it when I was 22 and have never forgotten it. The film and the TV series are not for me: too sad, I think.
