baby this town rips the bones from your back
I've been doing a lot of thinking about how realistic it is to have a stress-free job/life. I keep thinking "there must be more to life than this" but then again, I think everyone I know gets stressed about work sometimes...there's always busy and quiet times at work. I guess I never got stressed when I worked in Waterstone's as a bookseller, but that was a bit of a doss to be fair. Plus with teaching you get ridiculously stressful times but you do get amazing holidays. Hardly a healthy balance though. Hmmm...so is it possible to have a job you actually care about where you can do something worthwhile where you don't have sleepless nights cos you're that wound up? I dunno.
So tonight when I left work, I phoned Rhiannon up and suggested a holiday during the Easter break. Cuba and Japan have made it to my shortlist so far....both equally exciting I think! It all made me reminisce about last year and I had to get my ol travel journal out. The last page (featured on today's blip) is a list of my top 20 experiences of my time in Asia. One of them was when 'born to run' came on my iPod when it was on shuffle as I had got on an old rickety bus from Chennai to Pondicherry. It was just one of those journeys.....last minute but the best decision ever, the most amazing feeling of freedom and bliss and heading to somewhere which turned out to be completely life changing with a very apt tune courtesy of the Boss.
ahhhhh.....to have that feeling again :)
