Binary Centre Shopping
After all the outdoor activities of the weekend we decided Monday was an administration and shopping day, so here we are in the Blackburn shopping centre. This temple to consumerism can be seen as two worlds, linked by an escalator. Upstairs is the modern high street with all those predictable familiar names; you know exactly how things are when you go shopping there. Downstairs is the market, much less shiny and much less predictable, where you can cut a special deal with the owner if you buy a whole jar of aniseed balls.
Eating lunch is much more exciting down in the market than on the “posh” floor. A very wide range of choices from the most traditional northern, through delicious Asian, and on to a healthy option or two. As you can see in Jan’s blip I went for the traditional northern this time, a great chunk of beef and onion pie, with slightly overcooked vegetables, mashed potatoes, and gravy, washed down with a large mug of strong tea.
