Beneath the approaches to the Forth Bridge is the old Hawes Inn beside the Hawes Pier where Robert Louis Stevenson set his story of David Balfour in his famous book 'Kidnapped' Stevenson himself slept in the room above the doorway and you can still stay there today. It is a bit noisy with the trains passing by up above.
