Happy Birthday Bavaria

How many more days will we wake up to hear of yet another mass shooting and especially one involving young people doing exactly what they should be doing, enjoying themselves?

Hit home, even more, when son J sent through a photograph he had taken on Route 101 while passing through 1000 Oaks just a few days ago. The Bar Grill is directly on Route 101.

Thoughts with all the family and friends of the victims including of course the long-serving policeman who lost his life.

Overnight Bavaria turned 100. Didn't expect any great celebrations during the day and the Bavarian Government hadn't even declared it a public holiday - surprising on the one hand as they would have had to announce it some months ago before the State elections - might have saved them losing so many votes. On the other hand, they know that productivity is everything in our modern pressured society and Bavaria needs to be fit for Brexit which will initially cause problems.

This century UK & German productivity more or less followed exactly the same track until 2011 when suddenly it went apart like a wide open pair of scissors. Has UKIP & Brexit taken everybody's mind off doing any work at all?

It can't be anything to do with the time the politicians work. From what I can gleam, the UK's House of Commons and House of Lords sit on around 161 of 253 (63%) working days in the year (92 free). The German Lower House sits on only 104 of 252 (41%) working days, the Upper House on 10 days - YES TEN DAYS A YEAR!
From what has been reported today, one has to assume all this extra work the UK Mps put in is connected with their childish bobbing up and down from their seats in those moments they aren't sleeping.

Can't find any other explanation when the UK's Chief Minister for Brexit, Domenic Raab, announced he hadn't previously realised how much EU import/export trade was carried out through the Port of Dover. Please find me one schoolchild aged 10 or above who doesn't know this. It really is no longer a joke.

Well Luna and I went for an evening/night walk in Ottobeuren and as ever met up with someone skulking in the undergrowth near the Schickling Estate. He recognised my voice calling Luna who has to go on the lead at this point. It was literally pitch black but luckily both Luna and I also recognised his voice as he emerged and we discussed the plague of beavers we have locally. He had just been dismantling the latest load of trees a beaver family had dumped in the river close to the house. I can understand his difficulties and while he liases with the local county council beaver coordinator, we do have masses of them with loads of dedicated areas.

Well we saw no birthday fireworks over Ottobeuren and so getting home I used the camera flash on Luna and Jerry to try and make a bit of a party spirit.

Happy Birthday, Bavaria.
