When we were younger,
So much younger than today....A day when I wish I was younger ! A morning spent replacing some seriously dodgy cattle slats in the shed . Took 10 singles out and put a panel slat and 3 new singles in. The panel weighs over a ton and is wider than the door so had to be poked in end on and swung round while suspended by a chain on the tractor loader. The singles had to be man handled by me and Kev. Now beginning to walk like John Wayne again !
After lunch, hauled 40 heifers over from next door to put in said slatted shed.
Now turning into a wet night and blowing a hoolie outside.
Came across this photo from young farmers days. The 4 of us were taking part in the stock judging competition at the Winter Fair at Ingliston in 1989. We qualified to the next part which was to stand in front of the judges and each give our wee 2 minute speech on our” reasons for placing this class of fat bullocks in the order ABXY “ etc.
All very nerve wracking at the time !
