Backblip
This is a backblip from the last time we went South but is appropriate for this weekend, I still have a lot of blip gaps to fill .
We had a good breakfast and then went to find Murston Old Church which was not at all easy to find as it’s tucked away in a back street which has no access at one end and only a chapel remains. So after a drive around and locating it on the map we parked and walked down the road, past the barriers, past the Greyhound stadium ( previously Sittingbourne football ground ) and found this great display of poppies all made by Community Groups in the area. Sittingbourne rocks had laid their painted rocks along the bottom. The poppies were an assortment of painted cds, plates and knitted , all cleverly put together by HeArts. Each Poppy represents one of the 3000 lives lost across the Swale area between 1914 and 1918.
We then went for a walk at the Oare Gunpowder works. Now in ruins with parts of the buildings still remaining with lots of interesting information. Several leats and lakes with a variety of wildlife.
We spent the afternoon with my Mum and Dad which went way to quickly.Mum’s garden was still full of flowers and a blue butterfly landed on one of the Rebecca daisies.
An evening with my Auntie Sue and Uncle Fred before returning to the B&B .
