Salvatore

This amiable gentiluomo, Salvatore, is one of two Italians in the open bakery at our new Italian eatery. He has only just arrived in England, from Caserta (near Naples) and I don’t believe he speaks English. He always comes and says hello.

He expertly makes bread, savouries, pizza. The pastry chef is from Milan. While Mario the owner is upstairs in the kitchen preparing lovely delicacies such as melanzana alla parmigiana, baked macaroni, roasted vegetables etc. and regularly appears with a fresh tray of food for the buffet.

Today we met G & C and their 2 1/2 year old daughter in Ponti. Sat and chatted for 2 hours. Enjoying cappuccino with plain focaccia for late breakfast (C who is from the Cinque Terre , South of Genova, explained this is a typical breakfast in that region). Then a little later I had a cheese croquette and peach juice. By then Mr B had of course left for tennis.

Now 17:45 and the yellow weather warning is in effect over the South East and other parts of England. (North Wales = orange warning). Can certainly hear the wind raging out there.
