Mackenzie rug

I've had this rug since I was nine years old. The reason it has my name tag on it is that it accompanied me to prep school when I was just nine. Since then it has pretty much been where I've been. If you know your tartans you'll recognise this as Mackenzie. In 1958 my mother was working  in a path lab alongside a Mary Mackenzie who gave her the rug as a present. It is the real thing, woven in Lewis. The stitchwork on the Cash's label will have been my mother's; today is the anniversary of her death and seeing the stitches brought a tear.
